If you guys have been following me, you know that every year around the time of my birthday, I hold a Pay It Forward Birthday Celebration for all my online friends and family.  Anyone who wants to participate has to do a good deed…large or small…and then let me know about it so I can give them a shout-out on Facebook.  This year’s good deeds were amazing!!! The most lovely people in the land bought meals for homeless people, left extra tips for pregnant waitresses, stood up for those in need, and supported the Girl Scouts. If you want to feel good about life, I encourage you to click here and read about all of the altruistic activities that have been going on for this event.

For my contribution, I wait until my actual birthday and put my own project into action.  Last year, along with a pack of buddies, we were able to hand out packages for the homeless that included food and sanitary items.  This year, my parents were in town, so we banded together with my sweetie, Martino, and bought a whole bunch of food items from Smart & Final for the Midnight Mission in downtown’s Skid Row.  The Midnight Mission has been around since 1914 and they provide food, education, shelter, medical care, job placement and other services with the purpose of making the homeless self-sufficient again.  What an amazing group of people!  Luckily, we made our donation right before a big meeting, so we were able to meet the head Director for the charity!  What a great experience!  I can’t wait to do it again next year!
